Hawaii to spend $8.1M on water resource improvements

Gov. Neil Abercrombie has released more than $8.1 million for several projects to protect and manage watershed and water resources in Hawaii, including $3.4 million for statewide energy conservation and sustainable design improvements at public facilities such as several state office buildings in downtown Honolulu.

STATE PREDICTS FASTER ECONOMIC GROWTH

Led by what may be a record high 7.7 million visitors, tourism is leading the way for a faster than expected economic recovery with growth expected to exced 2.2% this year. In addition, flights into Hawaii have increased by 8%, and the building industry is seeing a turnaround with the value of building permits granted in the Jan- March quarter up 46+%.
